Surestore Optical 330fx - Can't newfs

Help! I have inherited a 330fx 4 drive array. No manuals. To date I have been able to connect the array to my L-2000 and it shows up under ioscan as C1107F schgr CLAIMED. I get a device file for each platter in the array. The four drives also show up as C113F sdisk CLAIMED (one for each). Everything looks good to go.

From information I gathered in the IT resource center I need to issue a newfs for each side of every platter, then I assume mount the device to be able to write to it. Here is my problem: every time I issue the ?newfs -F hfs -L -i 6144 -m 0 /dev/rac/c0t6d0_1a? command I get the following error: ?mkfs (hfs): read of lvm record failed mkfs (hfs): Error 0?. Thinking it was the type of media, I tried a WORM instead of Re-Writable, but still got the same error.

Any expert advice would be helpful!

Hi Jeff,
There shouldn't be any issues here... try simplifying the newfs command...

"newfs -F hfs /dev/rac/cxtxdx_1a"
