I was wondering what the deal is with my burner i can not use it with win2k pro. I have it installed on win 98 and it works fine.
But win 2k is more stable than 98 so i want to use it on win 2k but i cannot i have all the latest aspi32 files but there is something wrong with the driver i downloaded the latest from hp.com and it win't let me instal it.
Gives me a little box saying that folder containes no information about your device
can anyone help me please
P.S. This thread has been moved from Disk to Optical Jukeboxes & Drives. -HP Forum Moderator

Re: win 2k pro and cdwriter plus 8210 e
Windows looks for a .inf file in the folder you are pointing where the driver is there. In case windows does not find the .inf file it will return saying it cannot find the driver.
If you have downloaded a .exe or a .zip from the net, you have to unpack it first and then point windows to look for the driver in the folder where the unpacked files are there. Also see if there is a .inf file over there. It can be a oemsetup.inf or a inf file with the name of the device you are trying to configure.
hope this helps.
thanks

Re: win 2k pro and cdwriter plus 8210 e
Looks like there are some compatibility issue of this model of Cd-Writer with win 2k. Have a look at the thread below. The next thread if for the driver. If these doesn't work. Post your reply and also the exact error if you can.

Re: win 2k pro and cdwriter plus 8210 e
In www.hp.com, press drivers, search for the 8210e and DW the USB drivers. Try checking the part number of your writer.
