Question about HPE system compatibility with older network switches

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been helping a client upgrade part of their infrastructure, and we’re trying to integrate some newer HPE systems with a few older (but still reliable) network switches that use 1G uplinks. Before diving into the full setup  I wanted to ask:

Is there any known compatibility concern when connecting newer HPE servers (like the ProLiant Gen10+) to older network switches, particularly in terms of auto-negotiation or link stability?

We’re not looking to max out bandwidth just ensure stable connectivity. If anyone has experience mixing newer HPE gear with older switching hardware.

Thanks in advance!
