PCM+ 3.0 Hardware Configuration VM or not VM
I am currently scoping the requirements to transition from PCM+ 2.3 Unrestricted and PMM 2.0 Unrestricted to PCM+ 3.0 Unlimited License
I have a large network.
My network consists of 264 Subnets and 1450 HP Switches and growing.
In reviewing the Installation and Getting Started Guide for PCM+ 3.0 it would appear that I will need to deploy a number of PCM Remote Agents.
Deploying the PCM Remote Agents utilising VMWare instances is appealing.
In the Installation and Getting Started Guide for PCM+ 3.0 the recommended hardware requirements for a PCM Remote Agent are 2GB RAM, 2 CPU (is this because more than 2 CPUs require additional VMWare licensing) plus 20GB free disk space.
Are these specifications per instance or can I run 4 PCM Remote Agents on this spec?
If the spec is per instance am I right in assuming that I would need a dual CPU with 4 cores each and a minimum of 8GB RAM plus 80GB of free disk space to run 4 PCM Remote Agents?
Based on the number of devices I have I believe that I would need to run 2 of these systems to cater for the current device list plus have room for expansion.
Could someone confim this?
P.S. This thread has been moved from Switches, Hubs, Modems (Legacy ITRC forum) to Network Management > PCM. - Hp Forum Moderator

Re: PCM+ 3.0 Hardware Configuration VM or not VM
PCM+3.0 support ten remote agent
each remote agent support 350 device ,10 SNMP/syslog events per second,10000 interface monitored,3000 sFlow sampled interface,7000 interface polled for SNMP statics
and each remote agent must be install
windows xp(sp2or3)or windows 2003 server
additional hardaware requirements
*dual processor(for each remote agent)
*dedicated 100 Mbps network adapter(for each remote agent)
*disk space 20GB(40GB recomended)(for each remote agent)
*memory 2GB (3GB recomended)(for each remote agent)
yes you can use VMWare but you must support one by one system requirements each remote agent.
you have 1450 device on network so you must use five remote agent.
if you want install four or more than remote agent on same network you must not install local agent on pcm server.
remote agent install recomended branch office site for transparent firewall and collet easly data but you can install headquarter site few (maximum)remote agent
