PCM software update fails with Unable to load software properties file: read error

I need to perform remote software updates on procurve switches but when i this attempt using pcm it fails.

All firmware is downloaded and located in program files\Hewlett-Packard\PNM\server\data\download along with procurve_firmware.prp (though this may be an old version.)

Please can anyone advise as HP make this about as easy as lickjing your own elbow. This function should really work out of the box.

In the one occasion of this failure that I am aware of, the root cause turned out to be a corrupted procurve_firmware.prp file. 

I suggest that you try re-downloading the procurve_firmware.prp

Unfortunately that hasn't helped - i have the latest .prp and .swi files in \hewlettpackard\pnm\server\data\download and the error still occurs. Any other thoughts?

My recommendation is that you open a trouble call with HP Networking Support.

Hi,

What kind of switch are you trying to update ?

Which version of PCM and switchs are you running ?

Which type of file transfert (SCP or TFTP) ?

Have you try to restart your PCM services ?

Maybe your software are corrupted. Can you try to update manualy the software :

- copy your .swi in the PCM's tftp directory : "\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\PNM\pcm-agent\data\download"

- get the software from your switch "copy tftp flash pcmipaddress filename.swi"

I´ve the same problem with the firmware-updates!

Downloaded a act. .procurve_firmware.prp file , but unable to select the "preferred version" under preferences\configuration management\switch software.

with the wizard, comes the ...:read error....

Anyone some other ideas??
