HP Rapid Deployment: Reading an Image of all disks and all Partitions
I've tried HP/Altiris Rapid Deployment to read an image of one BL20p Blade attached to a EVA3000.
The Server has three LUNs presented from the SAN and one local SCSI Disk for swapping.
The Image reading job reads only the first (boot) partition of the system. The other partitons aren't read.
I've already tried using the command line switches -dN this works up to -d2 but with -d3 it doesn't work any more an raises the error message "Error in command-line".
What can i do to get a full image with all the disks of the server?
Thanks in advice for your help!
Kind Regards,
christian

Re: HP Rapid Deployment: Reading an Image of all disks and all Partitions
Can you please let us know what partitions are hosted on each LUN and how does it get presented to the system (is it single device with 3 partitions or 3 separate devices)
You can try disabling SAN and capturing local disk and vice versa, but I am not sure whether this will work during writing back.
Hope this helps,
Gopi

Re: HP Rapid Deployment: Reading an Image of all disks and all Partitions
There is as separate EVA Vdisk (=a LUN ) for every Partition in the System (One for the OS, one for the Programs and one for Data).
Disabling the SAN is impossible because the os boots from a SAN LUN...
kind regards,
chris

Re: HP Rapid Deployment: Reading an Image of all disks and all Partitions
It must be possible to retrieve an image from a SAN LUN because Rapid Deployment writes the image of the first LUN (which comes from the SAN) correctly. Then it creates the image for the SWAP Drive which is a local one (attached to the integrated SmartArray Controller).
Then it doesn't go on with the third LUN which should be a SAN LUN again.

Re: HP Rapid Deployment: Reading an Image of all disks and all Partitions
We've now got the info from HP Support that
it isn't possible to image more than two logical volumes with the license which comes with the BladeSystem.
Thanks to all for you Help!
Kind Regards,
