Installing PSP for VMs also?
We need to monitor filesystem usage on all our servers (physical or virtual).
Currently, for a physical server we install Proliant Support Pack. Then we integrate it into HP SIM and configure the agents in order to be notified as soon as a filesystem threshold is reached.
But how to proceed with virtual servers? Can we saftely install PSP on a VM? Does anyone has experience with PSP into a VM?
Thanks in advance

Re: Installing PSP for VMs also?
Look at the Virtual Machine Management module for HPSIM. This might help you with what you need to do to monitor your vm's...

Re: Installing PSP for VMs also?
Thank you for your help. Based on your recommendation, we prefer to stop our investigation with the PSP on VMs! As you have mentioned, PSP doesn't really apply for virtual machines but rather for physical machines.
Therefore we have glanced at the HP VMM. It provides a lot of possibilities, often redundant with VMware Virtual Center, and provides a high integration level between VMs and HP SIM. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find a way to define thresholds to monitor file system usage as it is possible with PSP on physical server├в ┬ж
Any other suggestion to monitor file system usage on our VMs from agent integrated to HP SIM?
Regards

Re: Installing PSP for VMs also?
Perhaps your environment is bigger/broader than what it appears to be at the moment... it might be worth looking into SE.
SE integrates with SIM, though does provide it's own web pages. You can use it in stand-alone mode too. Lots of things to consider though. Licensing, to integrate? (if so, then you probably need to re-install SIM), etc...

Re: Installing PSP for VMs also?
Well "Storage Essential" could be interresting. I'll document myself about the product and its features, licensing model and so on.
Thanks again for your help.
