Rapid Deployment New User

Hi Folks,
I have just installed the Rapid Deployment Server and have installed the agent onto the server I want to take the image of. However when the server restarts it exits the pxe screen unable to find a DHCP address. There is a DHCP server on the network.

Any ideas would be a great help

What is the PXE-E?? error message you get when trying to boot? PXE-E51, PXE-E52, or PXE-E53 - it maes a difference in troubleshooting.

Is this a Cisco switch? If so, you need Portfast enabled on the port.

Also, when you installed RDP, it does not by default install the PXE server - did you install it?

Re: Rapid Deployment New User

PXE services are included with the Initial "Step 1" installation of RDP. As Jeffsays, I am pretty sure it is not installed by default so you would have to click the "Yes, Install PXE on this server" button.

My suggestion....

Remove the software totally and re-install.. WITH PXE services. (or try adding them by re-running the install. I think there is a way to "add" more services.

You can also try running the install for he PXEserver directly, though I don't recommend it if your not too familiar with PXE.
