Windows Server 2003 activation starts immediately after rdp-deployment

hi!

we are deploing german windows server 2003 (standard) on bl25 blades. we use rdp 2.2 + hf1 and a cusomized default.txt to work with german servers. we also wrote the product-key into the default.txt. we use the default deployment-task which includes the psp-installation (7.40). the installtion works without any errors.

the problem is, that after the first logon windows displays the message that the period to activate windows is expired. the only thing you can do is the activation, no desktop is startet. but after the installation the server has no connection to the internet.

does anyone has an idea whats wrong?
hp-support has no idea!

Hi Wolfgang,

I never heard about this issue. I also never saw it in the several installs i've done.

I think that the problem is caused by the time settings on your system.

How is the time set on the Bl25p on the moment you start the install?
Wat did you customize in the german default.txt?
Is the synchronize time option enabled for the clients on the RDP server?
Can you also try installing hotfix 2:

Two thoughts:

1.Are you using the Volume License bits?

2.Do you have 'AutoActivate = Yes' in the default.txt file?

Product activation is not required for licenses acquired by a customer through one of Microsoft's volume licensing programs such as Open License or Select License.
