101-option rom checksum error ML 350 intel gigabit 1000mt dekstop
Hi,
I just bought an old ML 350 with P3 600mhz, 768mb of ram and 4 scsi disks.
The purpose of this box is iscsi server for my home test esx 3 setup.
I installed a ide disk which will contain the OS and use the scsi disk for storage.
I also had 2 gigabit nics lying around.
These are intel 1000mt dekstop adapters.
So i installed these as well.
When i boot the server i get an 101-option ROM checksum error.
I whent into the bios an have checked the IRQ settings:
Slot 1 Compaq Dual Wide-Ultra 2 SCSI controller iRQ: 11
Slot 1 Compaq Dual Wide-Ultra 2 SCSI controller iRQ: 11
Slot 1 Compaq NC3163 Fast ethernet embedded nics IRQ:15
Slot 1 Compaq advanced management controller irq: 10
Slot 3 Compaq smart array 532 controller irq:5
Slot 4: Ethernet Controller IRQ:15
Slot5: Ethernet Controller IRQ:15
If i hit F1 for booting the server works oke. Without problems.
When is disabled slot 4 and 5 the server boots whithout hitting F1.
How should i fix this problem?

Re: 101-option rom checksum error ML 350 intel gigabit 1000mt dekstop
Hello Rob,
Few nics seem to have an issue.
Do you get the 101 error after both the nics are detected during POST?
If you disable only one nic, does it boot ok?
Update the System ROM
SRH

Upgrade of the ROM didn't work.
I installed the latest version of 2003.
I will try to relocate the nics to another slot. And see i that has the desired effect.
