3019 Server Platform Services Firmware in recovery mode

Hello,

When I start my DL380 Gen 10, I get the message:  3019 Server Platform Services Firmware in recovery mode.  SPS firmware is corrupted.

I know this issue has been posted before, but the normal steps to correct it are not working for me - I have not setup iLo so I can't access it.  The error appears before the menu options appear, so I can't access System Configuration or the Boot Menu - meaning I can't run the latest SPP.

Is there some other way of accessing iLo or the boot menu?

Thanks.

Hi,

Why dont you try logging into iLO by using the detault username password?

Here is the advisory for this error.

Thank You!

Thank you.

It didn't occur to me to do this.  I'm in the process of updatig the firmware as I type.

Thanks again

Re: 3019 Server Platform Services Firmware in recovery mode

Hello @wilsona

Good Day!

Here are some steps you can try:

>>Ensure that all connections, including power and data cables, are securely connected to your server. Sometimes, loose connections can cause firmware issues.

>> You can try resetting the BIOS or UEFI settings to their default values. To do this, locate the CMOS battery on your motherboard and remove it for a few minutes. Then, reinsert the battery and restart the server. This will reset the BIOS settings, and it might help in some cases.

>> Some servers have a system maintenance switch (DIP switch) that can be used to reset certain configurations. Refer to your server's documentation to locate this switch and follow the instructions provided in the documentation to reset it.

>> Check for any physical damage or issues with server components that may be causing the problem. Ensure that all hardware components are properly seated and functioning correctly.

>> If you have access to physical or remote management tools, you can create bootable media with the necessary firmware updates and boot the server from it. This may allow you to update the Server Platform Services (SPS) firmware even if you can't access the boot menu.

>> If your server is under warranty or you have a service contract, it's a good idea to reach out to HPE support or your authorized service provider for assistance.

>> If you have important data on the server, consider taking a backup before attempting any extensive troubleshooting steps, as some procedures may involve resetting or updating firmware that could affect data integrity.

Remember that working on server hardware and firmware can be complex, and it's crucial to follow manufacturer instructions and guidelines. If you're not comfortable or experienced with these procedures, it's advisable to seek assistance from HPE support to avoid potential further issues.

Hope this helps!

These are my opinions so use it at your own risk.

First connect USB to UTP connector on the ILO Service Port and connect UTP on your laptop with std configuration (obtain ip adres auto)

HPE iLO Service port тАУ How to use it? тАУ d8taDude

Point your browser on the laptop to https://169.254.1.2 and flip over ServiceMaintenance switch S1-1 on motherbrd server .

Now you are able to come in ILO without credentials and without worrying which ILO IP adres is used (default: DHCP)

Re: 3019 Server Platform Services Firmware in recovery mode

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

In the end, I pulled everything out of the server (mem, fans, board, drives, etc..) and started again.

Not exactly sure what happened, but doing all the above corrected the problem I was having.
