Adaptec SCSI card always bootable controller despite BIOS setup
Hi.
I have a Adaptec 19160 card in my new ML310 System that always tries to boot disk on that card ahead of OS disk on embedded controller despite embedded controller being first on boot order list in BIOS. How can I force embedded controller to be boot controller.
Many Thanks
Trevor

Re: Adaptec SCSI card always bootable controller despite BIOS setup
Hello Trevor,
Adaptec controllers have their own settings as well. Which are available once you access the advanced configuration of the controller and disable the boot process for it. I am sure that's what it is and you have to do Ctrl A or Ctrl S to access it or you may want to contact Adaptec folks for this.

Re: Adaptec SCSI card always bootable controller despite BIOS setup
The Adaptec controller BIOS will always set it up as the primary boot device - the way around this is to go to the Adaptec setup - Ctrl A - and DISABLE the BIOS (in the advanced options).
This may sound drastic but the OS driver takes control of the card after the OS loads, and the only thing the BIOS is actually needed for is too boot from a device attached to the controller
