Add 2 disk ti Raid 5 in a HP 350ML G5 Server

The server have a Smart Array 641 controller.
We need to add 2-72GB disks to a Raid 5 with 3-72GB disks, is possible do that?? somebody can tell us how to do?
The Raid 5 have 2 partiction C y D, and we need to add this space to D partition.

yes you can.

just insert the 2 HDDs and open Array configuration utility.

so you will be able to follow the procedure called : EXPAND - EXTEND

First thanks for your answer.

After the extended disk process finish (we believe that will take a lot of hours), what we have to do to use this new space and increment the spaces to C and D partition? We Will need to use a Microsoft utility or Third Party Software?

the process that takes more time is EXPAND, EXTEND is faster also you can change rebuild and extend priority in your array configuration utility.

to add that extra space to C you will need a 3 party partition software since it's the boot partition and for D you can use diskpart

Hi:

This weekend we started de extended raid 5, we began at 9AM on Saturday 13th and today at this time 1PM we beleived that is in the process, we add 2-72GB disks, do you know how to know when this process finish?


We can see that the five disk some time are red and green, some time are green, also the server and the drive C and D are OK, we can access to this drive without problem.

If there a way to know if all is OK and only we have to wait.

using array configuration utility you can see percentage for the process taking place

We have few experience using smart array utility, can you tell us with wich option can we view de advance porcentage.

In this moment we are inside the smart array utility, we left open when begining the process, can we close the view that is front the utility (says Renew and Status Option)?

Is normal the hours that is taking this process? it has about 54 hours running.

just play around array configuration is not a big guy just a simple tool very simple
select either array X, logical drive or HDD and "more information" you will. see attached document

also you cal also change the priority for the REBUILD and EXPAND process and set it up to high
