add E200 controller on ML150G3

I have a SAS3080X with 2 mirrored 80 gig hotswap & 2 mirrored 250 gig hotswap. This controller will onl;y allow for 2 arrays Mirrored). I would like to add another controller E200 and use this to create a mirror for my 2 new drives in bay 5&6. I see in the scematics that connector J5 on the controller connects to the backplane for drives 1~4 and connector J4 connects to backplane for bays 5&6. Would it be as simple as unplugging the J2 connector from the 3080x and connecting it to the E200 to controll bay 5&6 ?

I have not seen any HP configurations where the disk cage backplane is split to two controllers and I don't know if HP would support this configuration. However I think what you are proposing will work.
The E200 would be somewhat underutilized with only two disks.

Yes I realize that it will be underutilzed, however I am afraid just yet to move my other
mirrored drives 1 data and 1 O.S. just incase the move does not work. This server is my global catalog. The reason I need 2 more drives mirrored,is I have lag issues accessing my files and folders. I have over 35,000 folders on my data drive and was told to break up the shares onto different physical drives. Unfortunately my present controller will only create 2 mirrored arrays.

Do you have any other ideas that would help me .

I would like to add another controller E200...

What is driving the 4 disks now? Is it a SATA, 8port SAS or E200?

SAS3080X controller is driving the 4 disks now.
sata drives in a hotswap carrage in a hotswap bay.

The SAS3080X is the HP 8 Internal Port SAS Host Bus Adapter with RAID

With all SA raid controllers, you can move raid disks from one controller to another and the new controller will read the raid configuration on the disks and will bind the disks to the original raid arrangement. However with this SAS HBA it may not be the case, I could not find any documentation neither for or against it.

So the short of it , is I am better off getting a controller (SA) that would allow me to create 3 mirrored arrays. Simply replacing the SAS3080 with a new SAS model would not cause harm to my OS configuration.
Could you reccomend a specific controller that would allow 3 mirrors and work with my hotswap bays and drives.

The E200 is the only controller that is supported officially.

The P400 has a x8 PCIe connector and the ML150 G3 has x4 PCIe slots only. Usually x8 cards will work in x4 slots and the P400 might work as well but I can not verify it.
