Adding 2nd CPU

Need exact process for adding Second CPU to Proliant DL360 running Win2K SP2 after initial install was done with only single CPU. Need to update kernel before installing 2nd CPU?

Re: Adding 2nd CPU

yes...what you do is the following:
go to your device manager...first option on devman is COMPUTER..expand it..it will currently list ACPI uniprocessor PCt...right click this and choose properties....go to the driver tab choose update driver..click next...then choose display a list click next then at the bottom of that screen choose show all hardware for this device class..choose under standard computers...acpi multiprocessor PC choose it and click next..finish the install and then shut system down and add the second proc
We are here for a good time, not a long time!

Re: Adding 2nd CPU

In addition, don't forget to re-apply SP2 BEFORE rebooting and installing the 2nd CPU. When win2k wants to reboot after selecting the processor type, cancel and re-apply sp2.
