Adding Adaptec 2940AU scsi card
I have a new ML530 with a 5300 Smart Array Controller, was working fine. I tried to add a Adaptec AHA-2940AU for external HP optical drive. Booted up with HP drive on, system will not boot says non system disk, just bypasses my array. Turned external drive off, booted ok. Went in Sys config, system config auto added the Adaptec card, I made sure the array controller was set as First boot device. Rebooted system would not see my Array controller anymore. Couldn't get into system config cause it was on my raid. had to clear cmos to get my array controller back. Any ideas on what went wrong or how to get this card to work with my array controller?

Re: Adding Adaptec 2940AU scsi card
I had a similar problem.
Make sure the AHA-2940AU SCSI controller card is installed in any slot except Slot 1. For some reason the Primary, 32/33 PIC Bus Slot 1 has trouble with the AHA-2940AU controller. Once I moved it to another slot everything booted correctly.
Hope this is helpful.
