Adding Backplanes and Riser to DL580 Gen10 8-SFF to use U.2 NVMe Drives?

Hello,

I currently have a DL580 Gen10 8-Bay SFF server with just a single single drive cage. I'm wanting to be able to enable the server to operate with U.2 NVMe drives and am a little overwhelmed on which parts I need exactly. Right now, the goal would be to operate with 6 x U.2 NVMe drives.

I understand I will need to install at least one more drive cage(was looking at the 8-bay SFF NVMe backplane with drive cage), but I'm not sure exactly which PCIe Riser and cables are also needed.

I appreciate the help!

You may refer to section "Core Options > SSD Selection > Read Intensive - NVMe U.2 and U.3" on page 37 and "Mixed Use - NVMe – U.3" on page 38 for supported drives and refer to section "Recommended NVMe drive configurations" from page 11 to 14 of the HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10 Server's QuickSpecs for information about using NVMe drives with this server.

Also, you may refer to section Removal and replacement procedure of the HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen10 Server Maintenance and Service Guide for steps to remove and install various NVMe components.
