We have a prolaint 1600 server which reboots randomly without a reason. I run some performance test programs but I cannot simulate the problem, also there didnt change anything on the configuration of the computer.
Now I have a question, is a ASR reset always the result of a hardware error or can it also be a software problem (driver) ?
With kind regards,
Fabian

Solution
Hi Fabian;
By default, ASR will reboot the server on a hardware or software exception.
The default timeout is 10 minutes - you can change this withing the settings of the server, or disable it altogether.
So yes, you can get ASRs on the server that are caused by software problems.
Hope that helps,
Janine

To get results you've never had before, try something you've never tried before.

Re: ASR Detected by System ROM
Febian. I have 2 ML350 running a standard install of Linux Redhat 8.0. I also have 4 ML350 running W2k(which do not have a problem).
Do you know of any issues relating to the Compaq/HP Ml350 and runing Redhat 8.0.
Thanks,
