serial number autodetect instructions

I have found the link that explains the
"serial number autodetect instructions"
Can anyone tell me where the utility is that I run to detect the serial number.

I think there should be several ways to get the serial number that you want. Do you have the management agents installed? If so, you can run the survey utility and get the serial number, or look under %systemdrive%\compaq\survey\survey.txt. You should also be able to get this from WMI...
