B110i smart array, Logical Drive 1 is queued for rebuilding.

One of four disks on HP DL180G6, Smart array B110i controler, RAID 10, is replaced by new one (larger capacity), due to hardware failure. System boot up (F1 pressed during boot), and MS Win Server 2008 R2 also boot up. In Windows ACU, i have following alerts:

776 (Ready for Recovery) Logical Drive 1 (931.5 GB, RAID 1+0) is queued for rebuilding.

All phisical drives have status = OK

but I'm not sure, did the process of rebuilding started or not. I have not any progress bar of rebuilding process,

and I'm not sure what I have to do:

1. Leave system powered up and Windows loaded, and wait

or

2. Restart the system, and wait for rebuild process in B110 bios

or

3. Something else

Also, how long to wait?

Array diagnostic report in attachment.

Thanks in advice,

Zlatko

Hi,

Have you got this fixed?

After checking the array report, the drive in question is in "Physical Drive 2I:1:2" and its a Non-HP drive.

Smart Array B110i SATA RAID in Embedded Slot : Physical Drive 2I:1:2 : Physical Drive Status

Drive Model    ATA WDC WD1003FZEX-0

Last Failure Reason                  Hardware Error (0x0d)

The other three 500GB drives are HP branded with HP Firmware but this 1TB is not compatible with the HP firmware which is on the Array controller.

Thank You!
I am a HP employee.

Re: B110i smart array, Logical Drive 1 is queued for rebuilding.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer.

It is not fixed yet, and I'm not happy to see harware incompatibility,

because on most documentation HP didn't warn you about that.

HP don't produce disks, on this server WD Black series is used, and HP branded them,

and put 75% higher price (in my country). Maybe all of that is OK, if I get better quality,

but from current experience, WD disks branded by HP have larger failure rate than

WD disks not branded by HP.
