Can I upgrade to larger HDs? Processor?
I recently acquired a 1600 for my business. Its has a PII 266 MHZ processor. Can this be upgraded to a faster MHz? Can I get a second PII 266 on it board? Where do I get the processor boards this site is to confusing to navigate. Also what is the maximum RAM this server will support? I also have 4, 4.3 GB HDs but the machine is setting them up as one and only picking up 12 GB, leaving out one of the drives. I like to put a larger say 30 to 40 GB HD in the 5th bay can I do this? Pleas someone help!!!

Re: Can I upgrade to larger HDs? Processor?
The Quickspecs, located at the URL below, will provide the information regarding upgrades and supported options to the server. The server, apparently has an array controller and running raid5, making the space available about right.

Re: Can I upgrade to larger HDs? Processor?
I was wondering the same question regarding larger hard drives, but the Quickspecs are really no help. They seem to be rather old (i.e. they list the processor speeds as PII-266 and PII-300 but we bought a PIII-500 model a little over a year ago). Does anyone know if there is an update to the QuickSpecs? If not, does anyone have experience running a Proliant 1600 with a hard drive larger than 18 gig?
Thanks,
Carl

Re: Can I upgrade to larger HDs? Processor?
This server supports Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 HDD's and there are 18GB and 36GB 1" drives available now. Check the following URL for the part number and you can buy direct from Compaq or a VAR http://www.compaq.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/hddU2hotplug/U2hotplugindex.html
