can't install solaris
Hi,
i just purchased a DL320 from a failing .com and I'm trying to install solaris 8 on it.
When booting up, the machine reports the following:
PIII 800 with 512 MB ram
DL320 D05/F05 System Rom Bios (07/04/2002)
CSA-649U 1.9.12 Ultra IDE Controller.
I'm trying to install solaris 8 by booting off of the software CD 1 of 2. (Not the install CD, as I've read that this isn't supported).
It makes it through the decide detection and seems to start booting up the OS.
Then, shortly after reaching the 'Configuring /dev and /devices', i
get the following error messages:
Warning: /pci@1,0/pci-ide@5/ide@0/cmdk@0,0 (Disk 0)
Error for command 'read sector'. Error level 'Informational'
Sense Key: aborted command
Vendor 'Gen-ATA' error code: 0x3
I'm using the Solaris 8 from 2/02, which I believe is the most recent.
I've also tried it with the
Compaq Solaris Driver Update (DU) Diskette for Solaris 8
but that didn't seem to help.
Any ideas?
- Thanks,
F

Re: can't install solaris
Hi, when you boot of the solaris cd you don?t have to use the (DU) since this is not a scsi controller I believe. The nic portion can be added later. Hope this will help.

Re: can't install solaris
Sun Solaris is not currently supported on the ProLiant DL320 ATA Models. Only on the scsi models.
