Problem:
Compaq Teaming and Configuration Tool (CPQTEAM) is showing [?] adapter instance number after unattend installation of Windows 2000 on a DL380.
Description:
In the main window of CPQTEAM, [?] is shown as the adapter instance number for each adapter installed
(eg. [?] Compaq NC3123 Fast Ethernet NIC Bus 0).
The same [?] is shown on the Properties Settings and Advanced Settings windows.
In the Properties Information window, under Detailed Information the Connection shows [-1].
This happens when Windows 2000 is installed unattended together with Compaq Support Paq for Windows 2000 on a DL380.
The adapters seem to function properly though.
After a manual uninstall of the adapters and a reboot, all adapters reinstall and show a normal instance number (eg. [1] or [2]).
According to support documents of Microsoft, the adapter instance numbers are assigned by the Operating System. It seems that CPQTEAM doesn?t recognize them somehow.
Versions used:
Windows 2000 Server with or without Servicepack 2
CPQTEAM: 6.21.621.2
N100NT5.SYS: 5.41.17
Anyone a clue?
Regards, Marco.
