I have a pretty old 5500 with one PII 450 XEON CPU, what is the maximum upgrade I can do on this system. Is it possible to put inside PIII CPU?

Re: CPU upgrade
The highest processor speed you can go to is a 550mhz processor. The jumper settings will not let you go any higher.

Re: CPU upgrade
As was mentioned you can only go so far with this server, but it will support up to four processors and additional processors can be purchased for these retired platforms. I've been working with a great vendor ChestnutMicro (www.chestnutmicro.com) when I need to purchase components for older servers. Which PII 450 are you using 512K, 1M or 2M cache? A 1M processor is going for about $290 from this vendor.

Re: CPU upgrade
Pentium Xeon Processors rated with different L2 Cache sizes can be combined, but they must be installed in pairs in specific slots and must be set to the same speed or frequency. This server will support all cache's that have been mentioned.
