Dialing prefix problems
3 weeks and 6 NeoServers later (c/o Carepaq, phew!) after being upgraded to a 150 as the original NeoServer could no longer be supplied, and innumerable calls to Compaq UK Support, no one can supply us with an answer to this problem.
In the Control Panel "Internet Settings" ISP number, a typical 0845 xxxxxx number will allow an Internet connection and browsing is possible, however, our particular ISP is 161642 0845 2402620 for unmetered access and will not form a connection. A standalone PC with an ISDN TA will connect and browse with the latter. The NeoServer 150 on-line help states that the ISP number can cope with outside line codes, area dialing codes and long distance/ credit card codes.
We have tried putting commas in, to no avail. The IE browser does not report any faults, however at the Internet Testing section in the NeoServer Control Panel, whilst it does not report a fault, it goes no further as it cannot perform any tests. With a regular 0845 (pay) number, it flies throught the tests! We have stripped out the 161642 leaving the rest of the number and sure enough it works, however, we are then paying for the calls, defeating the point! So whats up? No one at Compaq can explain.
The original NeoServer (not a 150) could cope, so why not a newer, supposedly better version? There are no more patches (we have the latest). We are not prepared to pay more for unmetered access, so we need the problem solved!
