Disks 1 and 2 in Array One
Disks 3 to 5 in Array Two
Disk 6 online spare
For the system, it will "see" only 3 devices (Correct?).
1)If Disk 1 in Array One failed/crashed, how can I know it?
2)If Disk 3 in Array Two crahsed, how can I know it?
3)For Disk 6, since it is at the standby state, how can I know if it is at a good status or not (useable or non-useable)?
Thanks to help.

Re: Disk Monitoring
This will increase the total number of disks for Disk Array Two (i.e. now it will have Disks 3, 4, 5, and 6 in the array), hence the greater storage capacity.
Of course this will lead to NO online spare disk anymore. In the case that any disk is crashed, I'll have to manually do a swap with a new disk. (I kind of feel the online spare disk is a waste of storage resource. It does not sounds critical).
Please do share your comments and opinion for the above strategy.
Thanks to help.

Re: Disk Monitoring
1) Later on, can I use the ACU to put the Disk 6 (the online apare disk) into Array Two so that Array Two will now contain Disks 3, 4, 5, and 6?
2) Can I do the above configuration online, or Must I do the it off line (i.e. take the server off the operation)?
Thanks to help.

Re: Disk Monitoring
1) yes, you can put disk6 into array and do array expansion and array extension
2) You can do it online
I think this document will be useful:
