DL 180G5 FANS TO LOUD

PLEASE HELPPPP!!

I have recently installed a new DL 180 G5 Server into a client site and the dam thing is just way too LOUD../..NOISY...

The server is a SBS2003 Server and runs great; the FANS are just too LOUD.

The Server has the latest Bios and Firmware for everything including the ILO100...

The Server is placed in the same office as the users are based, itтАЩs only a small office and thereтАЩs nowhere else for it to go...

The Office has air con and is cool, there are no heat problems at all in the office.

Using the ILO page I can see the FANS are always running @5500 rpm or above..

Does anyone know if Anyway at all to turn the FANS down or off etc...

If i cant fix this the server will need to be replaced leaving me out of pocket if you know what i mean.

cheers guys.

Re: DL 180G5 FANS TO LOUD

I had a similar problem on a ML1xx. After a mainboard change the fans were spinning at full speed all the time.

Installing an older BIOS version fixed the problem. Maybe it's the same bug (feature) here.

It seems to be a problem of the new Phoenix BIOS because I also had this problem in an IBM server (same BIOS brand).
Here too, a downgrade to an older version helped.
