DL 380 and KVM switch
I have a DL 380 G3, 2 DL 360 G2's , and a ML 350 G2 all connected to an Aten MasterView 1208 KVM switch. The DL 380 doesn't seem to like the switch as the keyboard and mouse functions are erratic. I've switched ports, cables (even tried another KVM switch) and it still doesn't function correctly. The other servers are fine. Is there a known issue with the DL 380's and KVM switches? Thanks!

Re: DL 380 and KVM switch
Does it work fine if you connect keyboard, mouse and monitor directly to the server?
Anyways, Some 3rd party switchboxes will not function properly with iLO or RIBLOE II installed in the server. Additionally, the PCI KVM switch solution from HP is currently NOT supported with iLO or RIBLOE II.
I have few suggestions for you.
1. Upgrade iLo to latest firmware( if it is not to latest), then test with KVM.
2. If above procedure does'nt work, then I suggest to disable the iLo by going to ilo F8 then Select Settings -> Configure and press ENTER.
Select "Lights-Out Functionality Enabled" and press the spacebar to disable iLO. Then F10 to save.
(Of course this procedure will not let you use the ilo)
3. I am not sure what is the nature of your KVM, but if your KVM supports USB ports, then I would try to use them.
Regards,

Re: DL 380 and KVM switch
Thanks for the reply Imad. I did turn off the iLO and still had the same problems. I'll try to upgrade the firmware for it also. I think I've narrowed the problem down to an incompatibility problem with the DL380 G3 and the Aten 1208 KVM switch. I've also got an APC 8 port KVM switch that I hooked the server up to. It worked fine from there. It's odd though that the other servers (DL360 G2, and ML 350) work fine on the Aten KVM switch. The Aten switches are just a temporary solution until I get this years budgets approved and I can afford better KVM switches. Thanks for the help!
