prolient 6500 install
Greetings.
I have purchased a used Compaq Prolient 6500. I had a problem using a smart start cd and produced an error. The server booted to the cd fine, but when I accessed one of the folders i got an unknown error. Are the smart start cd's proprietary to the server model? If I was to load all the necessary drivers and Paqs without the availability of smart start, where and what order would I begin. I am loading W2k and have onle integrated SCSI controller with 2 SCSI HD. I will be using a Netgear Nic. I have downloaded software off of Compaq site for this server model but not sure of the order to do so.
Thanks, in advance
Jake

Re: prolient 6500 install
Jake,
If you are not using a smart array controller, then you need to do the following:
Download System configuration utility and creat the diskettes.
Boot the server with the first diskette and configure your server, then after that creat the system partition on the hard drives using the same diskettes.
Then boot with your W2K CD and start installation, and later install Compaq support pack.
