DL180 G6 and PCI 32bits

Hello Folks,

Could you help me about PCI compatibility in a DL180 G6 ?
I need to install a PCI 2.2 card (32bits) in this server.

I have checked in the quickspecs and there is a PCI-X riser (488230-B21).
PCI-X is backward compatible with PCI 2.2, so it should work.

But there is a strange note in the Quickspecs:
NOTE: PCI-X support is limited to PCI-X cards only.

Is this a limitation from this type of riser / adpater ?

Thank you.

Hello,

I do not know of the limitations in that riser I'm afraid.

However, the only extra PCI cards that are supported are the ones in the quickspecs.

Thank you for reply.

Nobody else have experience with PCI-X riser and standard PCI card ?

Risers usually support only HP PCI-X or PCIe cards. Why do you need a PCI card? Get a PCI-X or PCIe card that does the task of that PCI card.

Re: DL180 G6 and PCI 32bits

Impossible, it is a proprietary PCI card (special implementation of RS485).

So, two possibilities:
1) I did not understand Quickspecs.
2) PCI-X standards isn't fulfilled.

I'll try this and give a feedback to the community .

Thank you.
