DL20 gen11 iLO switching from shared to dedicated NIC
Hi,
I'm not even sure if the hardwre allow to use a dedicated port, but the server has 4 nic and the BIOS has a section to configure it but whenever I try to switch from shared to dedicated I get locked out from iLO and I've to reset it from the host.
If it makes any difference I've an Advanced iLO license.
If possible, what is the correct procedure to switch from shared to dedicated?
thanks

Rif.: Query: DL20 gen11 iLO switching from shared to dedicated NIC
Hi,
I did find that page in the manual, but I couldn't find the menu in iLO.
I'm a bit puzled because my iLO menus have a "iLO dedicated network port" menu but everytime I enable the dedicated NIC, I can't access iLO anymore at the next reboot.
If my server wasn't coming with "dedicated network port", and that's what I'm starting to think, there shouldn't be that menu to enable it.
If there was I'd expect to work once enabled and set to DHCP.
thanks

Re: Rif.: Query: DL20 gen11 iLO switching from shared to dedicated NIC
Method 1: Using iLO Web Interface (GUI)
Step 1: Access iLO
Open a browser and go to your iLO IP address.
Log in with your iLO credentials.
Step 2: Go to Network Settings
Navigate to iLO > Network or iLO Configuration > Network (location varies slightly by iLO version).
Look for the NIC Selection setting.
Step 3: Change Port Selection
Under Network Interface Adapter, you will see options like:
Dedicated тАФ Uses the dedicated iLO port.
Shared Network Port тАФ Uses one of the serverтАЩs regular network ports.
Change this to Dedicated if you want to use the dedicated iLO port.
Step 4: Apply and Reboot
Save/Apply the changes.
iLO may reboot or reset the network interface briefly.
Method 2: Using iLO BIOS/ROM Setup (Pre-OS)
If you don't have network access to iLO or need to set this during initial setup, you can do it directly through the server BIOS.
Step 1: Reboot Server and Enter BIOS/ROM Setup
During boot, press F9 (on Gen10/Gen10 Plus servers) or F8 (on older generations) to enter System Utilities.
Step 2: Navigate to iLO Settings
Go to System Configuration > iLO 5 Configuration Utility (or iLO 4 if using an older server).
Step 3: Change Network Port Settings
Locate Network Options.
Find NIC Selection and change it to Dedicated.
Step 4: Save and Reboot
Save the configuration and exit.

Re: DL20 gen11 iLO switching from shared to dedicated NIC
Checking the DL20 Gen11 UserGuide and service guide, It does not come with dedicated iLO port. It has a shared iLO network port.

It would have been nice if in the answer was directly in the user manual. Something like "if you don't find this entry in the menu, your machine doesn't have a iLO dedicated port", but thanks.
