DL360G6 - mixing dual and quad rank DIMMs
I cannot find this information anywhere - hopefully someone here can help.
I wish to mix dual rank and quad rank DIMMs together in the following manner:
6x16GB QR 1066MHz
6x8GB DR 1333MHz
for a total of 144GB RAM. This is in a G6 perf (dual X5550) server.
A) Is this a supported configuration?
B) What will the resulting memory speed be if it is supported? 1066 or 800?
Thanks
A

Re: DL360G6 - mixing dual and quad rank DIMMs
o Quad-rank DIMMs are limited to two per channel.
o If a quad-rank DIMM is used, it must be installed as the first DIMM on that memory channel. To help identify slots, in a ProLiant G6 server the first DIMM slot in each memory channel is colored white.
o If a single quad-rank DIMM is installed anywhere in the system, then no channel is allowed to have 3 DIMMs.
As for speed I think it is 800 with three dimms per channel, 1066 with two dimms per channel.
This is a good white paper if you can find it

Re: DL360G6 - mixing dual and quad rank DIMMs
Did you ever figure out the end RAM speed for this configuration?
I am looking to purchase DL460c or DL490c G7s with quad and dual rank DIMMs
6x16GB QR 1066MHz
6x8GB DR 1333MHz
for a total of 144GB RAM with a dual x5670 CPU.
I am hoping this configuration runs at 1066 MHz. If it is stuck at 800 MHz I will ditch the 8GB sticks and upgrade them to 16GB QR.
