DL380 G11 - HPE MR416i-o Performance Tuning
We currently have a DL380 G11 server and we are trying to fine tune our setup to achieve the highest read speeds. We are currently using an HPE MR416i-o in a three disk (SAS SSDs) raid 5 array . We will be also moving to raid 10 which should help a bit on read speeds. Other than that I noticed there are several options that may give us faster reads, but there isn't much documentation on them. A few of the settings that may help that I see are.
1. Read Ahead (Currently not configured)
2. Performance mode is set to Best IOPS, but I believe there is a low latency option also called FASTPath.
3. Cachecade.
Does anyone have any information these settings? Any recommendations?

Re: DL380 G11 - HPE MR416i-o Performance Tuning
Hello,
Some factors impacting the controller's performance include the SAS link speed, PCIe lane speed, matching the controller's read and write I/O strip size to the application recommended read and write I/O strip size and then the cache policy.
Please refer to section "Performance" of the HPE MR Gen10 Plus Controller User Guide for information about controller settings that could help increasing its performance.
For configuring the controller with respect to the above settings, you may use the user guides of tool's GUI version "HPE MR Storage Administrator User Guide" or CLI version "HPE StorCLI User Guide".
Regards,

Re: DL380 G11 - HPE MR416i-o Performance Tuning
I am actually looking at performance monitoring in ILO and we are currently taxing the server with a bunch of reads. I see zero data for I/O Bus Utilization. Not sure why that is.

Re: DL380 G11 - HPE MR416i-o Performance Tuning
I/O Bus Utilization
This sensor reports the utilization of all processors connected to I/O buses (total PCI-e bus bandwidth). The measurement is based on a percentage of the maximum total bandwidth of these buses. This measurement is not an indication of how busy an I/O device might be, but rather how much PCI-e bandwidth the device is using.
You can also refer to Gen11 MR user guide:-

Refer to the section Features>>Performance. See if this helps.

Rif.: DL380 G11 - HPE MR416i-o Performance Tuning (SSD CACHE)
Hi @Bunsol ,
I'm desperately looking for information on SSD CACHE for MR416i controllers mounted on proliant gen10 servers.
No documentation can be found.
Is it possible to use SSD disks to cache mechanical disks as was done with Smart Array controllers by enabling Smart Cache?
