I've a a new DL 380 G3: the fan start at full speed, and doesn't reduce when the OS (win2003 w/SP2) starts. I've already check that the System Management is correctly installed and started, upgrade the firmware at the last version available, the room temp is about 25 degrees, the internal temp is about 40 degrees. I've even re-ran the PSP installation from within windows but fans are stil noisy.
Bios ver 2004.09.15
System Management 8.01
Appreciate any assistance.
Thanks

Re: DL380 G3 Fan Speed
my recommendation is power off your server and reseat all fans and also reseat PCI riser cage specially this one take it out put it back again and be sure that is properly seated.
try that and let us know
regards

Re: DL380 G3 Fan Speed
here is explained how the fan contro works :
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01214901тМй=en&cc=us&taskId=101&prodSeriesId=316529&prodTypeId=15351
It can be that the temperature sensor has failed .
You can try to take out 1 fan out or put a sheet of paper in front of the fans to see if they begin to spin faster, so you can see if the fan control is working, if there is no reaction , you will at least know

Re: DL380 G3 Fan Speed
I've tried the paper test but there was no adjustment to the fan speed, Are there any other test I can perform to determine if the fan controls are defective?
Thanks

Re: DL380 G3 Fan Speed
64Bit
2U server
RAM upgradeable to 12G
At least 2.4GHZ
Quiet enough to be used in a home office and allow the baby to sleep.
Plan to run Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 Host with several VMs
Thanks
