Proliant ML350 G3 PCI Serial Card Issue
Hi,
I just bought a second hand Proliant server and tried to install an addon pci card with 4 serial ports (Lava quad PCI card). I know this card is working because I was using it in another computer.
When I install it, the server boots but I am not able to view the Bios settings (F9 key), system hangs.
I have tried to install Linux. It successfully installed but the system is unstable and freezes after one or another command (telnet to the server, setserial command ...)
I tried to do exactly the same thing without the card and everything works perfectly (Bios, installation ...).
I also tried to put another serial PCI card and have the same symptoms.
Could someone help me find my way.
Thank you
Denis

Re: Proliant ML350 G3 PCI Serial Card Issue
Hi,
Make sure you have the latest firmware.
Check if the add on PCI cards are compatible with the slot on the server.
ML350 G3 has one 32-bit/33MHz, PCI slot supporting 5V and universal cards.
Check quickspec for ML350 G3 at http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11430_div/11430_div.HTML#Standard%20Features
Regards,
Shiraj.
