DL380 Gen 10 SAS HDD installation

Hello I have a DL380 Gen10 Server and I installed 2 SAS 10K HDD P/N 872477-B21. With intelligent provisioning the system can not see any disk do I have to set up anything to make them visible, the SR100S is enabled, the disks lights up but the system tells me that no disks are installed....any suggestions?

The P/N on the HPE box is 872477-B21 but on the HDD is written another P/N 876938-001

Re: DL380 Gen 10 SAS HDD installation

The embedded chipset S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID is a SATA controller and does not support SAS drives

This document breaks down the Gen10 controllers

872477-B21 is the option parts number, and P/N 876938-001 is the spares replacment number

Re: DL380 Gen 10 SAS HDD installation

Hello Jimmy, thanks for your answer, is it possible to keep the HDD and install another controller i.e. a class E controller? In this case whitch would be the controller to get? In this moment we have 4 872477-B21 units so we have to decide changing the drives or getting the controller...

Thank you

Yes the E series options are:

HPE Smart Array E208i-a SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/No Cache) 12G SAS Modular Controller 804326-B21
HPE Smart Array E208i-p SR Gen10 (8 Internal Lanes/No Cache) 12G SAS PCIe Plug-in Controller 804394-B21

It also looks like you will need this cable kit
HPE DL380 SFF Smart Array HBA H200/P400 Series SAS Cable Kit 786092-B21
