Hi,
Please is it possible for DL580 G7 to boot from an add-on PCI-e LSI/SAS controller which has the BIOS Option ROM and provides boot options on standard PCs? I would like to avoid the built-in P410 controller and keep all drives attached to the SAS controller. Currrently one 4-bay front cage is operated by the P410 and the other 4-bay front cage by the SAS HBA, which works perfectly including the status leds. Flipping the cage takes just connecting the internal SFF-8087 cable to the SAS HBA, instead of to the P410. I would like to connect both the SFF cables that way
I cannot test it on the actual machine since it must be running.
Thank you very much.
Pavel.

SolutionHello,
If you want to boot the server from a PCIe card, then you may refer to sections "Standard Boot Order (IPL) menu" and "Boot Controller Order menu" on page 75 of the HP ROM-Based Setup Utility User Guide for setting the boot order.

Re: DL580 G7 - Booting from PCI-e LSI/SAS Controller?
Thanks, that looks like booting from an added PCI-e controller should be possible.
Pavel.
