1. Will the 16GB of memory I have in my G1 run in my G2?
2. Are the power supply cables the same for the G1 and G2?
3. Can I put regular SATA 2.5" (laptop) drives in the DL585 G2? Is there a maximum size limit?

If you email me the spare part numbers you have i can look it up for you. My email is Joakim@hp.com
1: What kind of dimms do you have. 2x8gb? 4x4gb? spare part numbers?
2: The cable is fine
3: The supported drives are: 1 SFF SATA Hard Disk Drives â Hot Plug
HP 120 GB 1.5G SATA 5.4K SFF HDD
431786-B21
HP 60 GB 1.5G SATA 5.4K SFF HDD
379306-B21
2 SFF SAS Hard Disk Drives â Hot Plug
HP 146 GB 3G SAS 10K SFF SP HDD

HP 72 GB 3G SAS 10K SFF SP HDD

16b DIMM, PC2-5300, DDR2, 2 GB, 128Mx4 (dual rank)4 405476-051 432668-001 Mandatory1
16c DIMM, PC2-5300, DDR2, 4 GB, 256Mx4 (dual rank)4 405477-061 432670-001 Mandatory1
Same dimms with option part numbers:
1 GB REG PC2-5300 (2 x 512 MB) single rank 408850-B21
2 GB REG PC2-5300 (2 x 1 GB) single rank 408851-B21

They are faster than the dimms you had in your g1, so you sould get new ones
