Drive letters changing after a mirrored disk failure
There are four disks internaly in the server each pair is set as mirrored drives c: d:.
After a disk failed on the d drive the mirror held the data ok, the disk was rebuilt without any problems but after a reboot the system drive letters had changed NT could not load bceause the loader was looking for the system files on c drive but the c drive had become the s drive and the d: drive had become the I: drive.
There is a san attached to this server and one of the san disks had been changed to the c drive.
The only was to change the letters back to there original place was to rebuild the server, but this also meant that I lost the san disk that had it's drive letter changed to c.
There is a microsoft article on this but it complete it you must be able to access the registry in this case I could not.
Any ideas --- please
