Drive Partition Error during Linux Installation Using Rapid Setup

I am attempting to install Linux 8.5 using Rapid Setup on an HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen 10+ sever. It appears that the server has found the repositories and starts the process, but when automatically partitioning the drives, it almost immediately throws the message

Error: [’parted’. ’/dev/nvme0n1’, ’-s’, ’mklabel’, ’gpt’]

Sorry for the noobie question, but do I need to partition the OS drive manually? Is there a link you can point me to that would give step-by-step instructions on how to properly prepare the drives? Or is it simply a matter of erasing the drives and letting the system take care of the partitioning from there? This is the first time I’ve attempted to install an OS onto the server.

Thanks in Advance,

Tom

Hi,

From the error, looks like you are trying to install Linux on "nvme0n1" NVME drive.

Just make sure its the correct drive to install the OS and OS is compatible with the server.

Re: Drive Partition Error during Linux Installation Using Rapid Setup

I found the solution was to fully erase the NVMe using the Erase Utility in the quick start module. When I then returned to the Install OS module, it successfully partitioned the NVMe and was able to install RHEL automatically and smoothly. So, there must have been a conflict with the NVMe as received from HP, and erasing it solved that conflict.
