The correct process of replacing faulty hard drive on ProLiant ML150 Gen9

Hi all,

There is a server HP ProLiant ML150 Gen9 with one disk that is part of RAID1/1+0 being predictable fault state.

What I did:

1. Shut down the server.

2. Pulled out the faulty disk.

3. Inserted a new disk (same size 4TB).

4. Powered on the server.

Eventually, I had the replacement disk being in Fault state.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I though that the replacement disk being picked up by the RAID array automatically.

Did I miss something?

Hi,

Yes if the replacement disk is in good condition, it should rebuild automatically.

Hi  HP_User_20 ,

The steps mentioned by you are correct, but before removing the drive the LED indications of the drive needs to be checked. To find out the steps involved to remove the drive please visit page 32 from the following link.
