Drive Swap different array controllers.
I have never attempted this before, with different array controllers. We have a G8 with a P420i and a G9 with a P440AR. They are both running Linux OS. We need to swap the drives from the G8 to the G9. Has anyone tried this and had success? These are production systems, tying to minimize the downtime from rebuilding them.
Bad idea?

Yes, this is possible. The RAID information is stored on each disk, not in the controller. Try to keep disks in the same bay number. The only caveat is the controller your moving to needs to have the same or newer firmware.
Standard discalimer: Have a good data backup before modifying a functional array
