embedded SCSI trouble
The embedded SCSI is connected to one port of a Compaq DLT 35/70 tape library. Whenever I boot this server, the SCSI fails to detect the drives and it gives the following 2 error messages in the System Log (no errors on POST):
Storage Agents Warning SCSI 1333 N/A Component: Compaq SCSI Storage Agent Error: Unable to open any SCSI ports. Cause: The SCSI driver may have been deleted or the driver may not have started. Reinstall the SCSI driver. If the system does not have any SCSI devices, disable the Compaq SCSI Storage Agent via the Compaq Management Agent Control Panel.
Service Control Manager Error None 7026 N/A The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
CPQSDM
qic117
I have tried a different tape array, the external cable, reloading the SCSI driver, and the system board. I still have the same problem. Anybody have any suggestions?

Re: embedded SCSI trouble
Is this a 35/70 DLT tape Library or is it a 35/70 tape array. The tape array has four 35/70 drives and should have no more than 2 drives per scsi port. If it is a 35/70 DLT library, it should have no more than 2 DLT drives which satisfies the Compaq requirement of no more than 2 tape drives per scsi port. Check the library for scsi id configuration through it's control panel config screen. You should have them set as id4-library, id5 DLT-1, id6 DLT-2. Also, check the back of the library to see if you have a green led on scsi interface, if not, then you may need to change switch settings for the type of interface such as Single-Ended or Differential. Also, there is a cable running from the system board scsi port to the back panel of the server, if all else fails, change it. The bottom line is, if these scsi devices do not show up during the scanning for scsi devices phase of POST, then, you have some type of hardware problem with the scsi bus, scsi device, and/or scsi cable or termination and you will get these type errors until that problem is resolved.
