Embedded Serial number does no match server sticker

We have several HP servers which over the years have had new main boards.
Consequently when you query the serial number in the HP Management tool it doesn't match the serial number label printed on the outside of the server. Is there a way of altering the serial number electronically to match the printed number ?

Yes you can alter the serialnumber in bios don't have the exact location of the menu in my head but it should be under advanced...

You should always change the Serial number to match the printed one for Warrenty and so on...

Re: Embedded Serial number does no match server sticker

SUMMARY/PROBLEM:
Serial Number is incorrect in the BIOS/SMHP.

SOLUTION:
1. Restart Server
2. Press [F9] for ROM-Based Setup Utility
3. Select System Information
4. Select Serial Number
5. Press [Enter] at warning screen
6. Delete old Serial
7. Enter correct serial number from Chassis.

This is the process I use.
