Error launching ROM Update from Firmware Maintenance CD via iLO

Hi,

I'm trying to run the ROM Update utility from the Firmware Maintenance CD (7.30) on a BL20p G2.

As this blade has no local drives, I'm using the Virtual Media functionality of iLO Advanced in order to boot up the CD.

The CD does boot up, however when I try to lauch ROM Update, I get the error message:

The connection was refused when attempting to contact 127.0.0.1:2381

and the screen then just hangs...

A similar error occurs when running SmartStart 7.30, when trying to go into the Diagnostic Utility...

Any ideas on how this can be made to run ?

Update the firmware for the BIOS using the offline disk from here:

Once this is done, reboot and re-try your firmware CD.

I to get the same error. I have a BL20p G3 with PSP v7.40 and latest BIOS. The system freezes and when I try to run server diag from the virtual CD that is when I get the error message. Any thoughts beyond PSP or firmware updates?

is that happened prior you mount or after you mount CD and restart Server ?
did you get console view at all ?

Create firmware diskette and use mounted Floppy, boot from it

ILO firmware up to date ?
run Offline with .bin file exactly per instruction, at least 1.75 (1.82 latest)

all disk are original or burned, had you tried from different PC or Laptop ?

This may the meat of the matter. I have been attaching to the iLO board on the Blade server across the network, but have not been detaching the dongle attached to the front console.

Not sure if this got fixed but it is a known issue with some SmartStart CD's. Download the latest ISO image of the smartstart CD and go from there.
