Errors in Windows Event Log about Power

On a ProLiant 6500 (Dual PIII 500 / 1GB RAM) that is showing the following errors in the Event log:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Server Agents
Event Category: Events
Event ID: 1126
Date: 4/28/2004
Time: 10:41:40 AM
User: N/A
Computer: WEBSENSE2
Description:
System Information Agent: Health: The Fault Tolerant Power Supply Sub-system has lost redundancy. Restore power or replace any failed or missing power supplies.
Chassis: '0'
[SNMP TRAP: 6032 in CPQHLTH.MIB]

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Server Agents
Event Category: Events
Event ID: 1029
Date: 4/28/2004
Time: 10:42:45 AM
User: N/A
Computer: WEBSENSE2
Description:
System Information Agent: Health: The Fault Tolerant Power Supply Sub-system has returned to a redundant state.
Chassis: '0'
[SNMP TRAP: 6054 in CPQHLTH.MIB]

These messages are near constant in the Event log, but the Integrated System Health Log and HPSIM are not showing any problems.

I looked at the server via the SIM agents and saw that the PS in bay 1 was at 46%, but the PS in bay 2 was at 51%.

I was once told that if a PS goes over 50%, in a dual PS system, that power is no longer redundant.

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Thanks!

Re: Errors in Windows Event Log about Power

I believe if its connected to a low voltage source that's the case

Re: Errors in Windows Event Log about Power

Hi:

I admit it's a long shot but I'd try going here:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/family/model/1105.html?submit.y=7&submit.x=6тМй=en&cc=us

and select your OS and see if there's anything new out there for the PL6500 especially under Driver-System Management and Software-System Management.

Maybe it's not such a long shot, See:

Re: Errors in Windows Event Log about Power

The document that you pointed me to is very helpful - interesting too. But, it did not explain wheather or not that 51% power utilitzation would make a 2 PS system go non power redundant. I will investiagte further. Thanks for the help everyone.

Re: Errors in Windows Event Log about Power

I replaced the power supply that continued to go over 51%. The problem stopped and neither power supply has gone over ~38%.
