Expand an array capacity by replacing physical disks (without rebuilding an array )

Hi All, 

On HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 I have RAID 5 array built on 4 x 480 GB disks.

The array is running out of space and I want to double up its capacity without destroying and rebuilding the array.

My plan is replace 4 x 480 GB disks with 4 x 1 TB disks one by one.

Please advise if it is doable and one all disks are repalced will there anything else I have to perfrom to increase the array capacity?

Hello,

This should work fine. Once last drive is installed and rebuilt, you will see extra space available. This can be used to create a new logical drive or extend the existing logical drive (your goal). Once that is done, all of the space will be included in the logical drive. You will typically need to use the OS based tools available to expand the volume within the host OS.

Also, it may seem self explanatory, but not everyone will think of this...

The new drives MUST be the same technology, so if you have SATA SSD's now, then the new 1 TB drives will also need to be SATA SSD's.
