Expand HD in Proliant DL380 G7

Hello,

We have a Proliant DL380 G7 L (product 583917-B21) with all 6 HD connected (SAS MDL 2TB).  PCI slots 2&3 full for FC (other PCI free: 1,4,5,6).

We want to increase HD without formatting O.S.  Any idea?

We were thinking to attach a DELL MD1200 Powervault or similar by SAS connection on some new PCI card. This have sense? in this case, which PCI Card?

Regards.

Re: Expand HD in Proliant DL380 G7

You have several options.

- remove the optical drive cage and install another hdd cage. So you can have 2x 8 disks in the server. you will need a sas expander card or another smart array controller for these new disks.

- get something like a D2700 disk shelf and a smart array card.

(I would not mix vendors in a single system environment)

server quicckspec for supported options:

you may use a smartarray P410, P411, P812 or the 468406-B21 SAS Expander Card.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
