Greetings!
I have a DL580 G4 server that was configured with a single RAID 1+0 array across 6 physical drives.
We were starting to run a bit low on disk space, so I figured (perhaps incorrectly!) that if we put in 2 additional drives, we could expand the array to include the 2 new drives. I've had experience expanding RAID 5 arrays but not 1+0.
There does not appear to be an option to expand this RAID array with the 2 additional drives. I can only use them as hot spares, or create an additional array.
I just wanted to check and see if I am missing something critical...
I've had some difficulty finding material on what I'm trying to accomplish. But I could be searching for the wrong things...
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

hi
no worries at all expanding Raid 5 it is the same as expanding a RAID 1 the point with your P400 is looks like it does not have BBWC which enables all those features EXPAND/EXTEND in your case
check these

Re: Expanding RAID 1+0 - DL580 G4 SmartArray P400
sorry I meant it has BBWC since by default p400 has 256MB but it does not have the battery connected to it
check that in ACU information where it says battery count

Re: Expanding RAID 1+0 - DL580 G4 SmartArray P400
Ah, excellent. I knew I must be missing something...
I'll see if I can get that part ordered and I'll let you know how it goes. I suspect it will go quite well according to the other posts.
Thanks!
And Happy New Year to you also!
