I read from the Compaq Integrated Smart Array Controller user guide that I can "Assign the new physical drives to an array. Existing logical drives will automatically expand accross the physical drives, including the newly added ones." I have a server with 3 disks in a RAID 5. My Question is, does this mean that I am able to add two addtional drives to my RAID 5 array at once, and the array will rebuild across all 5 disks without disrupting the data?
Cheers.
Cheers.

Hello;
Yes, that's what it means.
You will still have to configure the free space you've created. You can either extend the logical drive or create another one, depending on your operating system and administrative requirements.

Re: Extending a Proliant ML 370 RAID array
Yes, this is true. But be careful if your OS is NT 4.0, do not create a boot partition larger than NT's physical boot limit. We have had customers expand their array with our drives and end up with a non-bootable situation.

Re: Extending a Proliant ML 370 RAID array
I added additional drives to my RAID 5 and then expanded the volume in NT Disk Manager.
Now it's time to do the same thing again. Do I just do what I did before? Can you expand a volume multiple times? NT 4.0 SP6 Server. Thanks!!
